Organisational Learning

You may have various reasons for measuring impact, including optimizing your activities so that you can maximize your impact. Then it becomes important to use what you learn from the data as input for your policy.

Triple Loop Learning is an important instrument here. Ask yourself three questions:

  • Single loop: can we improve our activities to have even more effect? Are we doing things right, or can we do better?
  • Double loop: Are the assumptions we make in our Theory of Change confirmed? Are we doing the right things to make change happen?
  • Triple loop: within our context, what is the best thing we can do to make a difference? How do we decide what’s right?
