Essential Prerequisites for Wrtiting a Bid or Tender

Before you consider writing a bid or a tender or seeking funding from another source. This module has an assumption underpinning it and that is that your social enterprise is already formed, or in the case of start-up funding, you have the essential requirements in place. These essential prerequisites include the following:

  1. Your business has been already set up (or you have a vision!)
    ☐  Yes
    ☐ No
  2. You have a clear vision, aim and objectives, some of which are social objectives.
    ☐  Yes
    ☐ No
  3. Your directors/ partners are in place with agreement?
    ☐  Yes
    ☐ No
  4. You have a Business Plan?
    ☐  Yes
    ☐ No
  5. You and your directors/ partners have an agreed purpose (a reason why)
    ☐  Yes
    ☐ No

If you answer No or Don’t Know to any of these questions, then you need to re-think and make the necessary changes.

Check out the Project Management Module/ Setting Up A Social Enterprise. Importantly, just think about these three questions before setting up your social enterprise…… but these three questions, especially the first two,  can also apply to a bid or tender:

  • Does my idea solve a problem?
  • Who will this business benefit?
  • How do you combine profit with purpose to create a thriving social enterprise?
